Two Color’s Story
My dad is a second generation printer, so I grew up working with graphics and print. While working at Utah State University as a graphic designer, I used stock photography that sometimes wasn’t as good as it could have been, so I started taking my own photographs. I transitioned into wedding photography when a friend asked me to do a wedding by saying “We aren’t going to hire another photographer, so it’s either you or no one. I figured that I was better than having no photographer, that same friend hired me for another daughter’s wedding. It was my own babies that got me started doing photographs of babies.
Now I specialize in newborn photography and all that goes with that: newborn, maternity, birth story, baby milestones, and the baby’s first year. I also specialize in family photography.
I am a photographer and area coordinator for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep organization that provides the gift of remembrance photography for families who are suffering the loss of a baby. I believe that this organization is the best thing I could ever do with my camera.
Sometimes people wonder about the name of my company, Two Color Photography. My first name, Amber, is a color. So is my last name, Rust. So, the company name came from my first and last name.
